About Us

Our Mission

The Capital City PAC is a nonpartisan organization based in Jefferson City whose mission is to advance the public interest by focusing on local initiatives, issues and candidates that work to ensure citizen participation, government transparency, integrity and respect.

Who We Are

The nonpartisan Capital City PAC was formed in late 2023 by mid-Missouri residents troubled by the direction the Jefferson City Council was taking. In response we have encouraged citizen involvement, transparency (with fewer closed meetings) and respectful attitudes and  behavior on the City Council. We welcome all who want to work together to ensure a City government that works for all of us.

Our goals

1) Identify and recommend candidates of integrity who are respectful, reasonable individuals capable of serving in a nonpartisan capacity while adhering to democratic principles.

2) Educate voters as a source of accurate, credible information to enable Jefferson City citizens to make well-informed decisions.

3) Encourage participation in local government. Staying informed about local issues and decisions made by the Jefferson City Counci will allow taxpayers to keep elected officials accountable for their remarks and their decisions..

Candidate

Candidate recommendations

Thank you, Jeff City voters, for  electing these leaders who will serve with independence, integrity, transparency and civility.

Capital City PAC recommended these Jefferson City Council Candidates for their commitment to transparency, civility and respect for the will of the people.

Our recommendations are based on the candidates' answers to questions on 1) Parks Dept. 2) Yard waste 3) City Council Code of Conduct 4) Citizen input at City Council meetings 5)Affordable housing and 6) Abiding by voters' wishes. See the questionnaire here.

Transparency is essential

It is important that the people who are running and asking for our vote be transparent about their positions on issues that are important to voters. Our questionnaires were e-mailed, as well as postal mailed (with stamped return envelopes provided) to the addresses given by the candidates in their election filings. These candidates chose not to respond to our questionnaire: Amy Brix, Jack Deeken, Virginia Shetler, and Randy Wright.
